It is Christmas Eve and I am currently on a coach to my sisters house. A whole 6 hours and 45 minutes journey, it could be worse.
I wish I could have a huge family Christmas. Everyone round the tree, drinking festive drinks and eating lovely food and having fun. Sadly, my family do not speak! I am very grateful to have family and a roof over my head, some people do not have this.
There is a divide between my mother and sister and myself and other sister (I will not go into the details of what has gone on). So, I am heading down to my sisters house for Christmas. I love Christmas either way! Every year, I try and make it special and full of love for everyone. I do not know about anyone else, but does it feel like Christmas to you? It does not to me… I do not feel festive at all right now. It does not feel like Christmas Eve today. I think it is because I have been so busy picking up extra shifts through December, I have not had a chance to just do nothing and appreciate it this year. Even my presents, they have all been ‘panic bought’ one of those ‘ok I have a day off, go to town and get gifts now!’ Usually I am on the ball, my presents are bought and wrapped by the first week of December. I do not think I even started my shopping until December (I have all my presents now, wrapped and ready).
I am trying to force the Christmas spirit upon me, I have been for the past week haha! I think once tomorrow comes and I am sat with family, it will feel like Christmas again 🎄
I have the next few weeks off (I say off, I will still be working extra shifts, just not my student nursing) and then I am back at university and I can not wait to get back into it!! How exciting. 16th January 2018 is my induction day for second year eeeee! 3 weeks away. Where has the past year gone?! Seriously? Anyone else blinked and it has gone?
I think next year I am going to try and do something different. So many people have no homes, no families – nothing. I would love to make a change some how. I have not worked out what or how yet, but I am definitely going to be looking into this. I would love to make someone’s Christmas extra special! That would be the best Christmas present ever.
Throughout January I plan to create some positivity for everyone. January blues will be creeping in so I’m going to be taking on the positive challenge. This is something another student nurse created through December. Actually 3 of them have! A couple have done the alternative advent calendar by doing something positive each day for someone else. And then the other student nurse gave a big positive shout out to one person each day that inspired him via twitter to create a positive festive period! Amazing ideas! So let’s keep this going. I am going to be kicking mine off in January to remove the January blues and hopefully inspire someone else to do the same like I have been inspired to do this from others. The world needs more goodness and kindness so let us keep it going and pass it forward wherever you are in the world and whatever job you do.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all you healthcare workers out there who are working 24/7 over the Christmas period to take care of your patients. What would the world do without you super hero’s! Not just healthcare but everyone working over Christmas! Whether you’re working in hospitality or the small stores that stay open. Thank you all! You are all amazing individuals who deserve the very best in life. Keep up the good work and I hope you manage to enjoy this festive period in one way or another. If you are on twitter, give our NHS a nice big #MerryXmasNHS and make someone smile. Feel free to follow me on twitter too: C_Carmichael83 if you do not already. (google image 2017)
I have a few more vlogs in mind so keep an eye out for those! If you have not already, have a look at my YouTube channel and my vlogs so far. Any tips and advice on them would be amazing. Or something you would like to see in the vlogs? Thank you!
hank you for reading, have a marvellous Christmas and a very happy new year! 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
