My Five Most Motivational Songs

Day 7 of the Nurse Bloggers / NHS Horizons – 30 day blogger challenge.

What are my most motivational songs to keep me going? In no particular order:

1: Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror

The king of pop! A song I really love; with a lot of meaning behind it. For the world to be a better place we all need to take a look at our own lives and make small changes. This song reminds me to be kind to others and brings out the 6 C’s of nursing in me.

2: Dolly Parton -9 to 5

This song really puts me into a great mood and ready for the day. I adore Dolly Parton so much, she’s such a wonderful human being with a big heart. She had to take a place in my top 5!

3: Hanson – Mmmbop

My ultimate song! If I am ever feeling down this song, without fail, will put a smile on my face in an instant. My teen years song with some great memories!

4: Whitney Houston – I wanna dance with somebody

One of the queens of music, another amazing woman with big voice. This is my feel good weekend song. And it definitely makes you want to dance. Even if it’s alone in the kitchen whilst cooking. Life’s so much better when you’re dancing.

5: Newton Faulkner – Hit the ground running

One of Newton Faulkners’ best songs I think! It reminds me of how life knocks me down but the important thing is that when you hit that ground you’re running. Forward and not backwards. You get up, dust yourself off and carry on. It makes you stronger. It enables you to become your best self.

It’s a very hard list to make as there are so many motivational songs out there!

I recently discovered this website: Music Shelter please take a look. It’s all about finding pride music for people with dementia who identify as LGBTQ.

Happy Saturday everyone! Get some great music on and embrace today.
