What does third year of nursing look like so far?

Hi all,

That’s me, I’m officially a final year student nurse! Whoop! I’m so excited for this year – it’s unreal.

I’ve said this previously, but I find it a great honour to sew on my stripes for nursing. I spent last weekend doing this ready for my final year. Does anyone else have this? Or something similar that shows which year of nursing you are in? We have one stripe for each year. I’m on my third and final stripe now!

So, it was our first week back at university last week and here is what we did:

Third year is looking like it’s going to be the hardest year out of all of them, but I have faith and hope in my heart!

This year is all about what I’ve worked so hard for, for the past 10 years, is all about.

I finish my degree this year in November (December if I have any hours etc to make up). January 2020 time is when I will finally receive my PIN from the NMC. We need a PIN (this is your nursing registration number) before we start any work as a qualified nurse. I think our official graduation day is in March 2020 – the day I’ve been waiting for and planning for! I already know how my hair and make up will be and what type of outfit I will wear. Is that a little bit keen?

I am back at university on Tuesday this week and looking forward to some third year skills sessions coming up! Have a great weekend everyone.

37 years old and I have finally achieved my dream of becoming a nurse. I had around 10 years healthcare experience before I started my nursing degree and then when I qualified I went straight into GP Nursing. I have a passion for sexual health, transgender health, LGBTQ+ health and all things shiny.
